For sale is a very nice example of a prewar Lionel 1941 O Gauge Outfit No. 890 with the 226 2-6-4 Steam Locomotive, 2226WX Tender, two 2623 "Mannhattan" Coaches, and one 2623 "Irvington" Coach, and a 226E Engine Box.
Of special interest is this set has the more rare nickel "LIONEL/LINES" plates on the 226 Loco and one "IRVINGTON" coach, which is also more rare than the two "Mannhattan" coaches. The set is in excellent condition with no rust or scratches, no broken, missing, or repro parts. All screws are correct on all the cars, loco, and tender. The tender and all 3 coaches have been rewired. The white heat-stamped lettering on the tender is sharp, the nickel name plates on the loco are original and sharp. All trucks and couplers are intact. The Tuscan paint on all three coaches is excellent with no repainting or "touch ups", the white heat-stamped lettering on all the coaches is sharp and clear. All steps on all the coaches are intact with no repairs.
The set comes with an original 226E loco box with the box insert and all flaps are present, no other boxes available. I have had these pieces in my collection for many years on static display in wall cases. I have been a TCA member since 1982.
